The principals and teachers in Skovde, Sweden have spent the week in training sessions with Dr Neil Hawkes and his partner Jane Cross. They have enthusiastically embraced the principles and methods of Values-based Education. Neil and Jane will return in November to further embed the work and to monitor progress. Neil believes that Skovde will be a model for Values-based Education for the whole of Sweden.
On the 7th August The Guardian published a very supporting article about the Values work at Tower Hill School in Witney, Oxfordshire, UK. It has brought a wonderful reaction of support as well as a few who challenge the notion because of misunderstandings and lack of knowledge about the philosophy and practice. The International Values Education Trust (IVET) is delighted with the article as it supports its mission of encouraging all schools to be explicitly values-based institutions.
